The Wurzels, also known as the "West Country's finest", are a legendary British band that have been entertaining audiences with their unique blend of rural folk, rock, and comedy for over five decades.
Hailing from Somerset, England, this talented group has become synonymous with good old-fashioned fun and infectious foot-stomping music.
This year they are joining us on a Seasonal Sunday again and they are encouraging you all to visit the Bath Christmas Market before you get to their Xmas Party at Komedia!
Formed in 1966, The Wurzels were initially known as "Adge Cutler and the Wurzels", led by charismatic frontman Adge Cutler. Their music, often referred to as "scrumpy and western", is deeply rooted in the West Country culture and traditions, celebrating the joys and quirks of rural life. With their distinctive blend of accordion, banjo, drums, and guitar, The Wurzels have created a sound that is instantly recognizable and impossible to resist. And this time they`re starting early on a Sunday evening so plenty of time to visit the Christmas Market and still get home in good time!
This band has paved the way over decades for Scrumpy n’ Western – a genre packed full of double entendre, mainstream parody, and a comical folk style. The perfect accompaniment to cider-drinking. Signed to label heavyweights Columbia and EMI, The Wurzels are world-famous and continue to play over 100 sell-out shows and festivals every year and Bath Komedia is always on their list. Their quintessentially West Country cover of Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Ruby’ has been a massive show favourite of late, as well as their hip hop version of the ubiquitous hit ‘Combine Harvester’. National and West Country Icons travel to see these West Country heroes so you never know who might turn up on the night!
